Steve Schidrich, Principal

Mr. Schidrich can be reached by email or phone: 843-689-4800.

I have been the proud Principal of Hilton Head Island High School since August of 2019.  I have been with the Beaufort County School District since 1999.  My education career began in 1996 when I became a Social Studies teacher for the New York City Board of Education.  My wife Kim and I moved to Hilton Head in 1999.  I was a Social Studies teacher at HHIHS from 1999 through 2012.  I was the head JV Baseball Coach at HHIHS from 2000 through 2004.  While teaching at Hilton Head High I was the Department Head of Social Studies for 10 years.  While at HHIHS I taught almost every subject including teaching IB Theory of Knowledge for 10 years.  In 2012 I moved to Bluffton Middle School as an Assistant Principal and served in that position for 7 years.  While there I always longed to return to HHIHS.  In August of 2019 I was named by the Beaufort School District Board School Board as Principal of HHIHS.  I am excited to help our students grow academically and socially to prepare them for their post high school endeavors.

What's New

New High School Construction Progress

Mr. Schidrich took SGA members on the roof to have a look at their new school footprint.  The construction process continues on the new 3 story building that will eventually replace much of the existing HHIHS building.  With the steel framing and concrete stairways rising into the sky, the students were able to envision their new school.

Bright Ideas Grant Awardees

Congratulations to our winners of the Bright Idea Grant!   Ms. Vindas and Ms. Guinn

To win a "Bright Ideas" grant, a teacher needs to submit a well-written application detailing an innovative and engaging classroom project that directly benefits students, clearly outlining its goals, implementation plan, measurable outcomes, and how the funding will be used effectively, while ensuring the project aligns with the specific guidelines and eligibility requirements of the grant provider, usually an electric cooperative in their area; this often involves demonstrating creativity, student-centered learning, and a strong connection to the curriculum.

The Bright Ideas education grant program is funded by the members of Coastal Electric Cooperative who participate in Operation RoundUp®, a voluntary program where members allow their electric bill to be rounded up the the next whole dollar.
