Hilton Head Island High School’s English Department aims to expose students to engaging and thought provoking texts that compel students to think deeply and analytically.  Teachers use both classical and contemporary novels, plays, short stories, poems, and nonfiction pieces to build students understanding and appreciation of literature and the English language.  Teachers work together to plan and reflect on lessons and units to insure that students are meeting state and local standards for English.
