May 1, 2021 - Hilton Head Island High School’s School Improvement Council was named the recipient of the South Carolina School Improvement Council’s fourth annual Award of Merit for SIC Report to the Parents Excellence. This award is intended to recognize Report content, clarity, and design appeal, as well as to stress the importance of the SIC Report to the Parents to school communities. HHIHS SIC received the award “for its outstanding efforts to excellently fulfill this required aspect of SC state law.” HHIHS SIC was previously ranked as one of five finalists for the SC-SIC’s annual Riley Award for School Improvement Council Excellence in both 2019 and 2018.

School Improvement Councils (SICs) serve to support the school in an advisory role, bringing together parents, educators, students and community stakeholders to collaborate on the improvement of their local school as well as assisting in the development of the school's five-year improvement plan. SICs are mandated by law to exist in every public school in South Carolina.

All meetings are open to the public and all stakeholders are encouraged to attend, share ideas, and collaborate. Only SIC members are eligible to vote.
